    4th Grade Team

    Ms. Walsh

My name is Karen Walsh.  I teach fourth grade English/Language Arts at Ashby Elementary School.  I have a Masters Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling and outdoor activities such as kayaking, cross-country skiing, and hiking.  I learned to play the clarinet as an adult, and I play in a local town band.

    Mrs. Rixford

Hi! My name is Karen Rixford, and I am a member of the fourth grade team at Ashby Elementary School. For twenty-three years I’ve had the privilege of working with amazing students, to develop the skills they need to navigate an ever-shifting workforce. Some of these skills include problem solving, deep thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, and a growth mindset. In addition to working with students, I enjoy providing professional development to other educators to help facilitate strong instructional practices and content knowledge growth. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family and friends. My family includes my outdoor enthusiast husband, a talented college-aged daughter, and an athletic high school-aged son. Together, we enjoy spending many hours playing with our active German Shepard, Freida. I look forward to continued opportunities to work with the students, families, and staff of the North Middlesex Regional School District. “All students can learn and succeed, but not in the same way and not in the same day.” - William G. Spady
