Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Kayla Noll
My name is Kayla Noll and it is my first year as the librarian at Spaulding Memorial School. I achieved my bachelor’s degree from the State University at New York (SUNY) at Fredonia. While I was there I majored in English and minored in Creative Writing. After this, I went on to complete a master’s degree in school librarianship at the University at Buffalo. I am certified as a library media specialist in both the state of New York and the state of Massachusetts.
As an educator, I believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and when they have autonomy in their own learning. In the library, my goal is to create a physical environment where all students feel comfortable exploring literature and interests while creating connections to their school, their communities, and their own lives through reading. To contribute to the growth of students at SMS, my goal is to provide access to updated, diverse collections of materials, both in print and digitally, where all students feel represented and diverse ideas are shared.
My primary goal for students is to connect them to genres and formats in which they feel comfortable and excited about reading in. In this way, I hope to inspire a love for reading and life-long learning. While doing this, students will explore different genres, authors, and formats as we learn how to connect our brains, heads, and hearts to what we read together and independently.
