Post-COVID Cardiac Clearance and Graduated Return to Play
Cardiac clearance and a graduated return to play is required for all students who have had COVID. The purpose of this clearance and modified activity level is to mitigate the risk of heart damage and sudden death as a result of elevated cardiovascular stress levels post-COVID. This process includes an evaluation by their primary care provider (PCP) of their illness severity and risk for cardiac complications (which can be telehealth) through which they receive clearance to begin a 3-5 day graduated return to play program. Their PCP provides the student with a clearance note for the coach and the school nurse.
For students under 12, they can advance acitivity as tolerated. However, there is a graduated return to play plan for students over 12. The plan and supporting documents are linked below.

COVID Testing at NMRSD
NMRSD has changed our testing program. We are now doing symptomatic testing only at school and an At Home Antigen Testing Program for students and staff.
